Spot on Simon

Over at Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge blog this week the theme is spots, but they are also highlighting Paper Smooches.

Who think is a brilliant company, I love Kim Hughes designs. They are so whimsical. The dots I have used in the background are from Geo-Graphic stamp set. I use this set all the time and the present is from a old stamp company Cornish Heritage Farms that Kim use to design for. She has a similar  one called Hullabaloo available with paper smooches.
I have used Distress inks for the background then flicked some water over to make the dots run into each other. The present is coloured with copics and the ribbon I have added glossy accents to it. I like the black edge I have used a Black Big Brush pen from Faber-Castell because I have used it on watercolour paper it didn't give a smooth line it is a bit jagged.

Around the House

Over at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge they have set a task for this month to use things around the house. I love this idea, so I didn't put much thought into what I was going to use or how. If I did knowing me I would over think. So I grabbed items, I have seen people use dress patterns before so found some I would never use again, some crepe paper and containers.

I layered on the pattern and crepe paper, I wanted the crepe paper to give a halo line of yellow n the background horizon.  Then I added some distress inks to that stuck  to areas that didn't have gel on them. then added paint then a white wash of Gesso to give it the pastel feel. I found the crepe paper was lifting so I just pulled it all off and love the look of the smooth area underneath.

Before I added the gesso I added some stamping with stamping with the containers with a pearl blue paint, in the photos I cant get it to show up but in real life when you move the page it is like there is light spots/glare.

I got the inspiration for this page you hold by heart by Shari Carroll I loved the look of the trees and the background.
