Starting afresh

It has been such a long time since I posted on my blog i couldn't believe how last year got away from me. So to start the year off I have been inspired by Prima blog it is amazing. The PPP this month is so beautiful I had to give it a go.
PPP FEB 16
I made two projects  using the colours as my base.

The first one is Joy from the Bloom girls, I was given a 6 x 6 clear inserts ages ago by someone as a present so I thought I would every Month add a girl to it. I had so much fun watercolour her in with my new Kuretake Gansai Tambi I got for my Birthday. the background has been done with mica powders, Lipstick, lilic opal and vintage pink. The splatters using Color Bloom storm cloud.

My second one is inspired by a mixed media item made by Shari Carroll. I loved what she did. My work is to remind me to just have fun and be creative.
I have used the most beautiful paper as my base Primas Debutante and flowers from its collection.
I am in love with Primas mica flakes Gold Leaf, Mulberry, Granite and Henna.

12 tags of 2015 January

I decided this year I was going to push myself and try some new things, so I thought I would do Tim Holtz 12 tags. I have love looking at what he makes each month and the tags that everyone else makes. So I thought go for it.

I don't have a lot of Tim's range except for distress inks and Christmas stamps so I thought over the year I could increase my supply of his wonderful range.

what stood out for me on Tim tag was the background, I love the range of colour he has achieved I don't have any of his sprays or paint but I do have Dylusions which I have sprayed, then I made my own tissue paper but just using normal tissue paper you get from packages, I just stamped on it using archival ink.
What also stood out was the words scatted all around, I made my own by writing down all the the things that mean the most for me this year.
I had great fun making this tag and look forward to the rest of the year.

Spot on Simon

Over at Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge blog this week the theme is spots, but they are also highlighting Paper Smooches.

Who think is a brilliant company, I love Kim Hughes designs. They are so whimsical. The dots I have used in the background are from Geo-Graphic stamp set. I use this set all the time and the present is from a old stamp company Cornish Heritage Farms that Kim use to design for. She has a similar  one called Hullabaloo available with paper smooches.
I have used Distress inks for the background then flicked some water over to make the dots run into each other. The present is coloured with copics and the ribbon I have added glossy accents to it. I like the black edge I have used a Black Big Brush pen from Faber-Castell because I have used it on watercolour paper it didn't give a smooth line it is a bit jagged.

Around the House

Over at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge they have set a task for this month to use things around the house. I love this idea, so I didn't put much thought into what I was going to use or how. If I did knowing me I would over think. So I grabbed items, I have seen people use dress patterns before so found some I would never use again, some crepe paper and containers.

I layered on the pattern and crepe paper, I wanted the crepe paper to give a halo line of yellow n the background horizon.  Then I added some distress inks to that stuck  to areas that didn't have gel on them. then added paint then a white wash of Gesso to give it the pastel feel. I found the crepe paper was lifting so I just pulled it all off and love the look of the smooth area underneath.

Before I added the gesso I added some stamping with stamping with the containers with a pearl blue paint, in the photos I cant get it to show up but in real life when you move the page it is like there is light spots/glare.

I got the inspiration for this page you hold by heart by Shari Carroll I loved the look of the trees and the background.

Start a Fresh

Hello, I was having problems with my last blog and since my computer knowledge is very limit I thought the best way was to start again.  I like this idea as I am trying to start a fresh this year anyway. My aim this year is to live positively it has been a rough few years so I wanted to get rid of the negative and bring in the positive.

I have spent the day cleaning out my craft area and found this stamp set from Stampin Up that I haven't used for a long time and I thought it would be great for the blog hop that Pretty Pink Posh is having at the moment. They are having  Sequin Shaker card hop that anyone can join.

I have been needing to make some more kids birthday cards as it is getting to birthday season again, and I love how adding the simple sequin shaker has lifted this card from a basic layout.

Sorry for the bad quality of the photos but it has been storms all day so had to take photos with flash.
